The Kapuche Lake Trek is the shortest and most direct way to reach Kapuche Glacier Lake, a striking turquoise lake fed by the Annapurna IV glacier, tucked into the hills above Sikles village in the Annapurna Conservation Area.
At just 5 days from Kathmandu, this is a compact itinerary built specifically around the lake itself, without the additional ridge-walking days of longer regional treks.
The route follows the Madi Valley from Pokhara to Sikles, one of Nepal’s largest traditional Gurung villages, before trekking through forest and traditional settlements to Hugu Goth and on to Kapuche Lake itself. The lake sits in a dramatic glacial basin directly beneath Annapurna IV, offering scenery that’s normally associated with much longer, higher-altitude treks.
This itinerary is ideal for trekkers who specifically want to see Kapuche Lake without committing to the longer Kori Himal circuit.
If you’d like to continue past the lake toward the remote Kori Danda ridge viewpoint (3,800m) as well, see our longer Kori Himal Trek with Kapuche Lake itinerary instead.
If Kapuche Lake itself is your destination — rather than a longer ridge-walking circuit — this is the most direct and time-efficient way to reach it. At 5 days from Kathmandu, it’s shorter than both the standard Kori Himal Trek and the combined Kori Himal with Kapuche Lake itinerary, making it the right choice for trekkers who want the glacial lake experience without the extra days needed to also reach Kori Danda.
Expect a scenic drive from Pokhara through the Madi Valley to Sikles, followed by two to three days of forest trekking to and from the lake itself. Accommodation is simple teahouse lodging throughout. The round-trip day to Kapuche Lake is the most demanding part of the itinerary, but the trail overall stays moderate, with no technical sections.
