The Gokyo Lake Trek is considered a moderate to challenging trek due to its high altitude and long trekking days. It requires a good level of fitness, as you will be walking for 5-7 hours a day at elevations above 3,500 meters. The trek includes several steep ascents and descents, particularly the climb to Gokyo Ri (5,360 meters).
Prior trekking experience is not mandatory, but it is beneficial. This trek is suitable for both novice and experienced trekkers, as long as you are in good physical condition. Training with cardio exercises and long hikes in preparation will help ensure you enjoy the trek.
Accommodation is provided in tea houses, which are simple guesthouses that offer basic amenities. Rooms are typically twin-sharing with shared bathrooms. The higher you go, the more basic the facilities. Hot showers may be available at an extra cost in some places.
