Your adventure begins with an early departure from Kathmandu, where you will embark on an 8-9 hour drive to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley. This scenic journey covers approximately 122 kilometers (75.8 miles) and takes you through a series of charming towns, including Trisuli Bazaar, Ramche Gaon, and Dhunche. The road, while rough, offers breathtaking views of the lush landscape that will captivate your senses. Upon arrival in Syabrubesi, you’ll register your permits and settle into your lodge or hotel for the night. This village, being a key stop for trekkers and situated near the Chinese border, is well-equipped with all necessary gear and provisions. Take some time to explore the village, shop for any last-minute items, and immerse yourself in the tranquil ambiance of the surrounding green hills.
Today marks the beginning of your trek as you leave Syabrubesi and head towards Gatlang, a picturesque Tamang village. The trek involves a 5-6 hour hike covering about 12.1 kilometers (7.4 miles) and ascends to a maximum altitude of 2,240 meters (7,355 feet). Your path will take you through a narrow, winding trail that crosses Bahun Dada Pass before descending into Gatlang. You have the option to stop at Chawatar for a delightful lunch, where you can enjoy freshly picked and organically grown vegetables. As you approach Gatlang, you’ll experience the vibrant culture and traditions of the Tamang people, adding a cultural dimension to your trekking experience.
Your trek today will lead you from Gatlang to Somdang, covering a distance of approximately 12.45 kilometers (7.74 miles) in 6-7 hours. You will first visit the sacred Parvati Kunda, an alpine lake named after the Hindu goddess Parvati. This serene spot is considered sacred by the locals and offers stunning natural beauty. Continuing your hike through lush pine and rhododendron forests, you’ll reach Yuri Kharka for lunch. Afterward, you’ll proceed to Somdang, passing through Khurphu Bhanjyang and exploring the remnants of an old mine that once extracted valuable minerals. On the fourth day, you will hike from Somdang to Pangsang Kharka, crossing the Pangsang La Pass at 3,842 meters (12,640 feet). Pangsang Kharka, with its expansive grass fields, serves as a perfect campsite, allowing you to relax and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. Your trek today takes you from Pangsang Kharka to Shertung/Chalish, covering a distance of about 5-6 hours. The journey begins with a descent through dense forests and continues towards Laptung village. After a lunch stop in Tipling, you will follow the trail to Shertung and Chalish. Today’s trek will lead you from Chalish to Hindung, also known as Gomba Danda. This 4-5 hour hike takes you to an altitude of 2,402 meters (7,900 feet), offering splendid views of the unspoiled landscapes. Hindung, a small Tamang village, is renowned for its local treasures such as crystals and rubies. Depending on the season, you might also spot Yarsagumba, a valuable medicinal herb. On day seven, you’ll hike from Hindung to Thulo Dhunga, ascending to 3,337 meters (10,975 feet). Today, you’ll trek from Hindung to Racyat Gaon/Kapur Gaon, taking 5-6 hours. En route, you’ll visit a riverside hot spring where you can unwind and rejuvenate your tired muscles. After a soothing bath, continue your trek along stone steps built by the Kadoorie Agri Aid Association and British Gurkhas of Nepal. Arrive at Racyat and Kapur villages, where you can enjoy local hospitality and soak in the scenic beauty.
On the twelfth day, trek from Racyat/Kapur Gaon to Khading Gaon, covering a distance of 4-5 hours. Your path takes you through Lapchyat village and over the Lapa Khola on a box bridge. Khading Gaon, the largest Gurung village in the region, offers warm hospitality and fascinating local culture. Spend the night here, interacting with the locals and learning about their traditional lifestyles.
Your trek today takes you from Khading Gaon to Magne Goth, a journey of about 4 hours. Traverse through blue pine and rhododendron forests, and terraced fields.
