The trail is relatively easy, winding through Kyangma village and its large gompa (monastery), before descending towards Cheplung village, where you’ll cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River.
As you walk through pine forests, mani walls, and Chortens, the cultural and natural beauty of the Khumbu region becomes apparent. Phakding, your resting spot for the night, is a small village set beside the river, offering a perfect start to your trekking adventure. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
This day’s trek follows the Dudh Kosi River, crossing suspension bridges and passing villages like Toktok, Bhenkar, and Monjo. You’ll arrive at the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife. Acclimatization is key to a successful climb, and today you’ll spend the day exploring the surrounding areas. Take a hike up to Syangboche and visit the Everest View Hotel, where you can enjoy panoramic views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, and more. Another option is to visit Khumjung village, home to the Hillary School and a revered monastery.
This day allows your body to adjust to the altitude, while also immersing yourself in Sherpa culture and the natural beauty of the Khumbu region. This is also an opportunity to visit the Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center, which offers insights into the local wildlife, flora, and history of Everest ascents. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
Today’s trek offers dazzling views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and the majestic Ama Dablam. After a few ascents and descents through pine forests, you’ll reach Phunki Thenga, a serene spot perfect for a lunch break. From here, the trail climbs steeply to Tengboche, home to the largest and most famous monastery in the Khumbu region.
Upon arrival in Tengboche, the views of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest are simply awe-inspiring. Don’t miss the evening monastery ceremony at Tengboche Monastery, where you can witness the monks’ daily rituals against the backdrop of the Himalayan peaks. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 8 is dedicated to rest and acclimatization in Dingboche, a charming Sherpa village nestled in the Imja Valley. While resting, there’s an option for a short acclimatization hike up the surrounding hills. One popular destination is the Nangkartshang Peak (5,083m), which offers panoramic views of the surrounding giants, including Makalu (8,485m), Lhotse (8,516m), and Island Peak (6,189m).
Dingboche itself offers an opportunity to experience the traditional Sherpa way of life. You can explore the village’s stone-walled fields, visit local lodges, or simply relax and take in the views of Ama Dablam and other nearby peaks. The day’s activities help prepare you mentally and physically for the higher altitudes and more challenging days ahead. Overnight in Dingboche.
After a good rest in Dingboche, the trek resumes with a gradual ascent towards Lobuche, a small settlement nestled beneath the towering Lobuche Peak. The trail starts with a gentle climb along a wide valley, offering magnificent views of the snow-covered peaks all around. As you approach Thukla Pass, the terrain becomes more rugged and barren, a reminder of the high-altitude environment. At the top of the pass, you’ll find the memorials of climbers who lost their lives during Everest expeditions, which serves as a somber but inspiring moment on the journey.
From Thukla, the trail becomes more challenging as it climbs steeply over rocky moraine fields and glacier paths. The high altitude may slow your pace, but the stunning views of Pumori (7,161m), Khumbutse (6,636m), and other peaks keep the spirits high. After around 5-6 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Lobuche, where you’ll spend the night. This small village offers basic but cozy teahouses where trekkers and climbers gather to rest before heading to higher elevations.
Today is one of the highlights of your entire adventure as you make your way to Everest Base Camp. The trek starts early as you follow the rugged trail that weaves through rocky terrain and across moraine paths alongside the Khumbu Glacier. The journey to Everest Base Camp is relatively flat but challenging due to the altitude. Along the way, you’ll pass the infamous Khumbu Icefall and catch glimpses of the mighty Mount Everest.
After around 3-4 hours, you’ll finally reach Everest Base Camp, the starting point for many climbers attempting to summit the world’s tallest peak. The base camp offers incredible views of the surrounding mountains, including Nuptse and the Khumbu Icefall, although Everest itself is hidden from view. Take time to celebrate this achievement, snap some photos, and soak in the atmosphere of the legendary base camp.
After spending time at Everest Base Camp, you’ll trek back to Gorak Shep for the night. The journey takes approximately 7-8 hours in total, with the return offering more breathtaking views of the Himalayas as the sun sets over the peaks.
Early morning, we set off for Kala Patthar, a popular viewpoint offering one of the best panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and the surrounding peaks. The trek to Kala Patthar is short but steep, requiring a slow, steady pace to deal with the altitude. Reaching the summit of Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters, you’ll be rewarded with an unforgettable sunrise view over Mount Everest, often referred to as one of the best vantage points in the world. After capturing this iconic moment, we descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast.
Following breakfast, the trek continues downhill towards Lobuche. The descent is faster and easier as we retrace our steps, enjoying familiar sights from a new perspective. Reaching Lobuche, we prepare for the next phase of the adventure: the Lobuche Peak climb. Overnight at a teahouse in Lobuche.
The journey from Lobuche to Lobuche High Camp marks the beginning of the climbing phase. After a hearty breakfast, we leave Lobuche village behind and trek towards the high camp, which stands at 5,600 meters. The trail is steep and challenging, with rocky sections and loose scree, but the ascent is steady, allowing for good acclimatization. You’ll be surrounded by glaciers and rugged mountains as you approach High Camp.
Upon reaching the camp after about 3-4 hours of trekking, we set up our tents and prepare for the summit push. Our experienced climbing guides will conduct a final briefing on the technical aspects of the climb, ensuring everyone is well-prepared. You’ll spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and mentally preparing for the summit day ahead. Overnight in tents at High Camp.
Summit day begins in the pre-dawn hours, around 2-3 AM, to take advantage of the calm weather conditions and avoid afternoon winds. The climb to the summit of Lobuche Peak is physically demanding and requires the use of ropes, crampons, and ice axes. The first section involves crossing a steep glacier, followed by a technical climb up the ridge to the summit.
As you ascend, the horizon slowly brightens, revealing the snow-covered peaks around you. After several hours of climbing, you’ll reach the summit of Lobuche East, standing at 6,119 meters. From the top, you’ll have an incredible 360-degree view of the Everest region, with Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam all visible in the distance. It’s a moment of triumph as you stand on top of one of Nepal’s most iconic trekking peaks.
After spending some time at the summit, we begin the long descent back to Thukla. The descent is steep and can be tiring on the legs, but the sense of achievement will keep your spirits high. Arriving in Thukla, you’ll enjoy a well-deserved meal and rest after a long and exhilarating day. Overnight at a teahouse in Thukla.
After the excitement of summit day, the trek back towards lower altitudes continues with a descent from Thukla to Tengboche. The trail initially takes you down along the familiar route, retracing your steps towards Pheriche and Pangboche. You’ll notice the changes in landscape as the high-altitude barren terrain gradually transforms back into lush, green valleys.
The trek offers excellent opportunities to take in more views of the Everest region’s giants, like Ama Dablam, and provides time to reflect on the experience so far. After around 5-6 hours of walking, you’ll reach Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, one of the largest and most important monasteries in the Khumbu region. Here, you can visit the monastery, watch the monks in prayer, and take in the tranquil atmosphere. The stunning backdrop of Ama Dablam adds a serene beauty to the surroundings. Overnight at a teahouse in Tengboche.
Today, the descent continues as you head from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar. The trek starts with a steep descent through a dense rhododendron forest to the Dudh Koshi River. As you descend, you’ll once again pass through several Sherpa villages, offering a chance to engage with locals and get a final taste of the Khumbu culture.
The familiar path leads you across suspension bridges, through pine forests, and alongside the gushing river, providing a much easier trekking experience now that you’re descending into lower altitudes. After a 5-6 hour walk, you’ll arrive back in Namche Bazaar, where the lively town atmosphere will feel welcoming after several days in more remote locations. Enjoy a comfortable stay at one of the teahouses in Namche, where you can indulge in some shopping or visit a local café for a treat.
On the final trekking day of your Lobuche Peak expedition, you’ll make your way from Namche Bazaar back to Lukla. The path initially descends steeply, so it’s important to watch your footing as you cross the suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. You’ll pass through Monjo, where your trekking permits will be checked out at the Sagarmatha National Park entrance.
The trail meanders through familiar terrain, with dense forests, rivers, and small villages dotting the landscape. You may feel a mix of emotions as the journey nears its end – a sense of accomplishment and perhaps a bit of sadness at leaving the mountains behind.
After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive in Lukla, where the trek officially concludes. Here, you can relax, enjoy a hot shower, and celebrate the completion of the Lobuche Peak climb with your fellow trekkers and guides. Overnight in Lukla.
In the morning, you’ll board an early flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. The short but scenic flight offers one last glimpse of the Himalayas as you bid farewell to the mountains. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and unwind after the adventure.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore the bustling streets of Kathmandu, visit local markets, or simply rest. In the evening, you can join your trekking group for a farewell dinner, celebrating your successful ascent of Lobuche Peak and the incredible experiences of the past weeks.
As your Lobuche Peak climbing journey comes to an end, we will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. Reflecting on your experiences, from the excitement of the summit to the cultural richness of the Sherpa villages, you’ll carry memories of Nepal’s majestic mountains with you for a lifetime. Our team will ensure you leave with a smile, as you look forward to your next adventure in the Himalayas. Safe travels!
