Your Annapurna Sanctuary Trekking begins with a scenic drive following an early morning breakfast. You will travel by tourist bus out of the Kathmandu Valley, passing along the picturesque Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers. Enjoy the breathtaking views of majestically flowing rivers, terraced fields, traditional villages, and glimpses of the snowy mountains, including the impressive Ganesh and Manaslu peaks.
The journey includes a stop in Pokhara, Nepal’s vibrant tourist capital. From Pokhara, we will continue for about 2 hours to Dhampus, a charming Gurung village renowned for its stunning mountain vistas. In Dhampus, you’ll be treated to magnificent views of peaks such as Annapurna South, Fishtail (Machhapuchhare), Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, and other majestic mountains. Spend the night in Dhampus, where you can enjoy beautiful sunset views of the Himalayas, setting the stage for your trekking adventure.
After a nutritious breakfast, we embark on the day’s hike, with the trail first leading us to Pothana. This part of the journey takes you through lush forests adorned with rhododendrons—Nepal’s national flower—and orchids. As you ascend, the stone-paved path winds through steeper sections, offering some of the best views of the majestic Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) from Pothana.
Continuing our trek, we reach Deurali Pass, a serene clearing that offers spectacular panoramic views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. At this elevation, we find ourselves high on the eastern side of the Modi Khola river. The trail then descends through a vibrant forest teeming with the sounds of birds, alongside ferns and orchids, ultimately leading us into the impressive Modi Khola canyon.
A short distance ahead lies Landruk, our destination for the day. This charming village presents breathtaking views of Machhapuchhare (6,920m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and Hiunchuli (6,441m). The day’s trek is a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion, making it a memorable part of your Annapurna Sanctuary adventure.
If at Chomrong, we descend through the spread-out picturesque Chomrong Village to a river crossing before climbing again and heading north of the Modi River Valley. We cross a suspension bridge and then trek to Sinuwa Danda.
If we stayed at Sinuwa Danda the previous night, we will start the trek from Sinuwa. The trail from Sinuwa Danda becomes somewhat wider as it passes through thick and dark rhododendron forests until we reach Khuldighar. From Khuldighar, we descend long and steep stone steps into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests to reach Bamboo. After a gentle ascent from Bamboo, we finally reach Himalaya. If we spent the last night at Sinuwa, we will trek to Deurali, otherwise, we will stay at Himalaya for the night.
The length of today’s trek depends on where we spent the night. If we stayed in Himalaya, our journey would begin with a gentle ascent upstream along the banks of the Modi Khola. The trail then becomes rugged as we traverse the mountainside, leading us to Deurali. However, if we stayed at Deurali, our trek would progress directly from there.
The path to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) is somewhat strenuous, but the effort is well worth it. Upon reaching MBC, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the majestic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak), along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna. These breathtaking panoramas make the climb a truly rewarding experience.
Leaving Machhapuchhre Base Camp behind, we continue our trek toward the ultimate destination—Annapurna Sanctuary Camp. Upon arrival at Annapurna Sanctuary Camp, you’ll be greeted by mesmerizing views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and other towering peaks. This day marks one of the most scenic and fulfilling experiences of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, offering unforgettable memories of the Himalayan grandeur.
After breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas from the stunning Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), we will enjoy a hearty breakfast amidst the awe-inspiring mountain scenery. Once we’ve taken in the last of the incredible views, it’s time to begin our descent, retracing our steps out of the Annapurna Sanctuary and the Modi River Valley.
As we descend, the trek becomes much easier, allowing you to fully appreciate the surrounding landscapes. Along the way, you’ll be treated to the sights and sounds of several beautiful waterfalls, adding to the serene atmosphere of the journey. Our destination for the day is Bamboo, where we’ll rest and reflect on the incredible experiences of the past days. This leg of the trek offers a relaxing yet scenic conclusion to our time in the heart of the Annapurna region.
As we continue our descent, we pass through the same serene rhododendron, bamboo, and oak forests that we encountered on our ascent, offering another chance to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Annapurna region. The trail then ascends slightly as we approach Chomrong Village, a familiar stop that offers stunning views of Machhapuchhre and the surrounding peaks.
From Chomrong, we descend to the small and peaceful settlement of Jhinu Danda, where we’ll spend the night. Jhinu Danda is known for its nearby riverside hot springs, where you can soak your tired muscles and relax after the day’s trek. This day’s journey combines the tranquility of the forested trails with the rejuvenating experience of the natural hot springs, making it a memorable part of your Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
We have reached the final day of our trekking adventure. Today, you will embark on a pleasant hike along the Modi River as we make our way down the stunning Modi River Valley. The descent takes us through a fertile landscape, where the rich greenery and vibrant natural beauty provide a serene end to our journey.
As we trek through this beautiful valley, we eventually reach Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi, the endpoint of our time on the trekking trails. Here, we bid farewell to the trails that have brought us so many unforgettable memories. From Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi, we will take a return drive through the picturesque countryside back to Pokhara. This day offers a peaceful and reflective conclusion to the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, leaving you with lasting impressions of Nepal’s stunning landscapes.
Today marks the end of our Annapurna Base Camp adventure with an early morning departure on a tourist bus back to Kathmandu. The 200 km route offers a scenic journey as we first follow the banks of the Marsyangdi River and then the Trishuli River. Along the way, you’ll be treated to fabulous natural scenery, including lush farmlands, terraced fields, and distant mountain views.
As the bus makes its final climb, we arrive back in Kathmandu, bringing your trek to a close. We hope that your Annapurna Base Camp Trek was an incredibly enjoyable and memorable experience, filled with the beauty and serenity of Nepal’s majestic landscapes.
