Kori Himal Trek

The Kori Himal Trek, also known as the Kori Danda Trek, is a remote and offbeat trekking adventure in the Annapurna Conservation Area, reaching 3,800 meters at Kori Danda.

Starting from Sikles, one of Nepal’s largest and most traditional Gurung villages, the trail climbs through forests, alpine pasture, and remote mountain landscapes into a rarely visited corner of the Annapurna region.

Unlike the well-trodden Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) and Poon Hill trails, Kori Himal sees relatively few trekkers, making it an excellent choice for travelers seeking solitude and an authentic Himalayan experience.

The highlight of the trek is Kori Danda, where the open ridge provides expansive views of the Annapurna and Lamjung Himal ranges. The viewpoint is particularly rewarding at sunrise and sunset when the surrounding peaks are illuminated by changing mountain light.

The trek also offers an opportunity to experience the traditional culture of Sikles village, known for its Gurung heritage, traditional stone houses, and mountain setting.

The combination of cultural immersion, quiet trails, alpine landscapes, and panoramic Himalayan views makes Kori Himal an appealing alternative to Nepal’s more crowded trekking routes.

Trek Highlights

  • Reach the remote viewpoint of Kori Danda (3,800m) with panoramic views of the Annapurna and Lamjung Himal ranges
  • Explore Sikles, one of Nepal’s largest and most traditional Gurung villages
  • Trek through forests, alpine pasture, and remote Himalayan landscapes
  • Experience a quieter alternative to the busier trekking routes of the Annapurna region
  • Enjoy spectacular sunrise and sunset views from the Kori Danda ridge
  • Experience authentic Gurung culture and traditional mountain communities
  • Complete a rewarding 6-day offbeat trek without the crowds found on popular Annapurna trails

Why Choose the Kori Himal Trek?

For trekkers looking beyond the busier Annapurna trails, Kori Himal offers a quieter and more remote Himalayan experience without sacrificing spectacular mountain scenery. The 6-day itinerary takes you from the cultural heart of Sikles through forests and alpine landscapes to Kori Danda at 3,800m.

The trek is particularly suited to travelers who value solitude, mountain views, local culture, and less-crowded trails. Rather than following one of Nepal’s heavily traveled trekking routes, Kori Himal provides an opportunity to explore a lesser-known part of the Annapurna region.

What to Expect

Expect quiet trails through forests, alpine pasture, and remote mountain terrain, with relatively little trekker traffic along the route. Accommodation is simple, with local teahouses and mountain lodges providing basic but comfortable facilities.

The trail gradually gains elevation from Sikles and Hugu Goth toward Nhuta before reaching the open alpine ridges of Kori Danda. The ascent culminates at 3,800m, where clear-weather conditions can provide wide views across the surrounding Himalayan ranges.

The return journey follows the trail back toward Hugu Goth and Sikles, before continuing by vehicle to Pokhara, where the 6-day Kori Himal Trek concludes.

Trip Ending & Return to Kathmandu

The 6 Days Kori Himal Trek officially ends in Pokhara on Day 6 after returning from Sikles. If you need to travel back to Kathmandu after the trek, Save Mountain Treks can arrange transportation from Pokhara to Kathmandu upon request.

If you are continuing your journey to an international flight from Kathmandu, we recommend allowing sufficient time for the return journey due to possible road delays.
